Jaimie Perkunas has been working in Physical Therapy since 1998 and has been practicing yoga since 2000. Jaimie graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University in 2005. She completed a 200hr Anusara Yoga Teacher Training and has been teaching yoga since 2010. Jaimie is a Relax and Renew Trainer for restorative yoga and has completed a 100 hour Happy Back Certification. Jaimie enjoys teaching about anatomy and the therapeutics effect of yoga physically and emotionally. She teaches workshops locally and internationally which focus on backcare and specialized classes for hip and shoulder safety and awareness. Jaimie’s passion is to share with you her deep understanding of the body with her unique therapeutic approach to yoga to create a safe and healing practice to bring out the potential in every body.
Jaimie will work with you to develop a personalized practice and empower you to know what your body needs to heal and how to get the most from your yoga practice. Her goal is to help you develop a freedom within your mind and body to eliminate fear of movement & self limitations. Ultimately, you will return to your mat with knowledge and awareness to keep you free from discomfort and/or injury. Jaimie offers personalized physical therapy and yoga therapy services including private one-on-one sessions, semi private yoga classes with 2-3 friends, and specialized public classes. Her teachings focus on a structural and functional approach for optimal alignment in yoga poses for each individual and prevention of injuries on the mat. She provides education for anatomy & physiology, pose modifications, and explanation of muscle imbalances for common ailments and for specific populations of students.
